Rescue Abducted Kaduna Worshippers, Arrest Kidnappers, Speaker Abbas Charges Security Agencies

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue worshippers abducted during coordinated attacks on churches in Kaduna State and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists reportedly attacked three churches in the Kurmin Wali community of Kajuru Local Government Area on Sunday, abducting more than 100 worshippers during the assaults.

The attacks occurred while congregants were attending church services, triggering fear and outrage within the affected communities.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Speaker Abbas strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable.

He expressed deep concern over the growing wave of mass kidnappings across the country, noting that vulnerable and soft targets such as schools and places of worship have increasingly become targets of criminal elements.

The Speaker said the abduction of worshippers in sacred places represents a grave threat to national security and social cohesion, adding that such acts undermine citizens’ confidence and sense of safety.

He called on security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to secure the immediate release of the victims and to apprehend those responsible for the attacks, stressing that there must be no safe haven for kidnappers and terrorists.

Speaker Abbas reaffirmed his confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reverse the disturbing security trend in the country. He also emphasized the need for collective national efforts involving government, security agencies, community leaders and citizens to restore peace and ensure Nigeria remains safe for its people, businesses and investments.

He urged residents of Kaduna State and Nigerians at large to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information, while assuring that the National Assembly would continue to back policies and legislation aimed at strengthening the nation’s security architecture.
