APC, Accord Differ over Delay in Osun Teachers’ Recruitment

The Osun APC and Accord Party have clashed with Governor Ademola Adeleke over delays in issuing appointment letters to newly recruited teachers.
The governor’s office denied claims of internal sabotage, insisting that top officials are working to finalize the process for the first batch of recruits as directed.
The state government blamed the delay on financial pressures, including the new minimum wage implementation and local government funding issues. Officials stated that education agencies are currently coordinating to ensure teachers are strategically deployed across the state’s public schools once the process concludes.
Rejecting these excuses, the APC accused the Adeleke administration of insincerity and poor planning regarding the recruitment exercise. The opposition questioned why local government funds were being cited as an obstacle and argued that the financial implications should have been settled before the exercise began.
The Accord Party also criticized the slow pace, dismissing the government’s explanations as mere “political talk.” They expressed skepticism over the governor’s actual readiness to hire the candidates, many of whom have already completed their examinations and interviews but remain in limbo.
In response, the government urged the public to ignore rumors of internal friction, maintaining that the recruitment is being handled carefully to ensure long-term sustainability.
They reaffirmed their commitment to the education sector, stating that “order over impulse” is necessary to properly fill verified vacancies.
