Police Arrest 20 Suspects, Recover 24,000 illicit Drug Pills in Jigwa

The Jigawa State Police Command have arrested 20 suspects and recovered 24,000 illicit drug pills during a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the arrests on Friday, noting that the breakthroughs were made possible through routine patrols and credible information provided by local residents.

Among the primary arrests were 33-year-old Tukur Abdulmumin and 42-year-old Adamu Babangida, both residents of Kano State. They were intercepted in the Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area while allegedly transporting 24,000 Exol tablets on a motorcycle. The drugs, which were intended for distribution, are valued at approximately ₦1.2 million.

In addition to the drug bust, the police cracked down on various other criminal activities, including the theft of motorcycles and livestock.

Notable recoveries included several stolen motorcycles and a variety of animals, such as cows, horses, and sheep.

Several suspects linked to these thefts were apprehended across various divisions, including Hadejia, Guri, and Maigatari.

The operations also targeted violent crimes, resulting in the arrest of a suspect linked to a robbery in which a victim was dispossessed of laptops, cameras, and cash.

Another successful raid led to the arrest of two individuals for criminal conspiracy and the theft of a mobile phone and ₦50,000. Many of these cases have already been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further prosecution.

Commissioner of Police CP Dahiru Muhammad commended his officers for their professionalism and thanked the public for their continued support. He emphasized that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure a drug-free and secure environment in Jigawa.
