Lagos APC Justifies FG’s $9m Lobby Deal, Slams Opposition

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended the Federal Government’s decision to approve a $9 million contract for lobbying services in the United States.

The deal, involving the U.S. firm DCI Group, aims to communicate the government’s efforts to protect Christians in Nigeria and strengthen diplomatic ties.

Opposition parties, including the PDP and Labour Party, have criticized the expenditure as a waste of resources.

They argue that the administration is prioritizing its international image over the urgent economic hardships and insecurity facing citizens at home.

Responding to these claims, Lagos APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo described the opposition’s stance as a reflection of “grave ignorance.” He maintained that hiring public affairs firms is a standard global practice used by many nations to influence policy and attract foreign investment.

The party further stated that the move is essential for correcting misinformation about Nigeria on the global stage. According to the APC, the investment will ultimately help secure development assistance and foster better international security cooperation for the country.
