Police Nab Six Kidnappers in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three victims in the Lafia East Development Area.
The successful raid targeted criminal hideouts in the forested regions of Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages. The rescued individuals, consisting of two females and one male, were found unharmed and have since been reunited with their families after receiving medical attention.
The operation was initiated following a harrowing report filed on January 7, 2026, regarding an invasion of Angara village. During the initial attack, armed men abducted two women but notably abandoned an infant at the scene before later kidnapping a male resident from the same community. Upon receiving the complaint, the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, issued an immediate order for a manhunt to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the captives.
Following their arrest, the six suspects reportedly confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogations.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more thorough investigation and eventual prosecution.
This swift legal transition underscores the command’s intent to ensure the judicial process begins promptly for those involved in the kidnapping syndicate.
Commissioner Mohammed emphasized that this operation is part of a broader, “sustained onslaught” against all forms of criminality across Nasarawa’s 13 local government areas. He reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to eliminating criminal hideouts and ensuring that the state remains unsafe for bandits and kidnappers.
The police also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence, which proved vital in the success of this particular rescue mission.
