APC, PDP Structures Have Collapsed for Tinubu in Rivers State Ahead of 2027 Elections, Says Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the traditional party structures of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State have effectively merged in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during visits to communities in Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas, Wike said that political labels such as APC and PDP now matter less in the state, as members of both parties have rallied around shared development goals and Tinubu’s vision.

He described the new alignment as a single “Renewed Hope family” in Rivers State, reflecting a shift from partisan competition to collective support for policies aimed at growth and stability.

Wike urged residents to prioritise development over party loyalty, emphasising that unity and cooperation should take precedence over political divisions.

He highlighted the role of local leaders and council officials in fostering political stability and promoting grassroots cohesion.

The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State, including high-profile defections and shifts in party loyalty, which have reshaped the state’s political landscape.

Wike stressed that party structures are not determined by labels or defection announcements alone, but by strong grassroots organisation and active engagement with the electorate.

While Wike framed the developments as a convergence around Tinubu’s agenda, local party leaders continue to assert the resilience of their respective organisations.

Observers note that these shifts may have significant implications for voter behaviour and party dynamics in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

Wike’s comments underscore his belief that political cooperation, rather than division, is now the defining feature of Rivers State’s evolving political scene.
