Tinubu: As a Prayerful and Religious Nation, We Will Overcome Insecurity
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges, assuring citizens that ongoing reforms in the nation’s security architecture will soon deliver tangible results and restore public confidence.
The President gave the assurance on Friday while receiving a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his residence in Lagos, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu said his administration remains firmly committed to tackling insecurity through a combination of institutional reforms, improved intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and enhanced support for security personnel across the country.
Describing Nigeria as a deeply spiritual nation, the President noted that faith and collective responsibility would play a critical role in overcoming the current security challenges.
“As a prayerful and religious nation, we will overcome insecurity. The reforms we have initiated in the security sector will soon yield results that Nigerians can see and feel,” Tinubu said.
He stressed that his government was taking deliberate steps to strengthen the capacity of the armed forces and other security agencies, while also addressing the socio-economic factors that fuel crime and violence.
The President thanked CAN for its prayers and continuous engagement, urging religious leaders to promote peace, unity, and national cohesion, especially at a time when the country is working to consolidate stability and economic recovery.
Earlier, Archbishop Okoh said the visit was to pray for the President and the nation, as well as to reaffirm the church’s support for efforts aimed at restoring peace and security.
He noted that CAN remained concerned about the security situation in parts of the country but expressed hope that sustained dialogue and decisive action would bring lasting solutions.
The CAN leader also encouraged the government to continue engaging religious and community leaders as partners in peacebuilding, stressing that national unity and mutual understanding were essential for Nigeria’s progress.
The meeting ended with prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
