Zamfara Lawmaker Consoles Maru Community After Deadly Bandit Attack
The member representing Bungudu and Maru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdulmalik Zubairu, has paid a sympathy visit to Maru town in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State following a recent bandit assault that claimed several lives and led to multiple abductions.
The attack, carried out by armed bandits, reportedly resulted in the killing of many residents and the kidnapping of others, leaving the community in mourning.
According to a statement released on Saturday in Gusau by the lawmaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Aminu Lawal, Zubairu met with families of the victims during the visit to express his condolences and share in their grief.
The statement quoted the lawmaker as describing the incident as deeply tragic, noting that he was profoundly disturbed by the scale of loss suffered by the community.
Zubairu expressed concern over the persistent insecurity in the area, which he said has continued to inflict severe hardship on the people he represents.
He assured constituents of his commitment to pursuing all possible measures within his capacity to enhance the safety of lives and property in the constituency, stressing that the welfare of his people remains a top priority.
Zubairu also offered prayers for the eternal rest of those who lost their lives in the attack and called for the safe release of those abducted by the assailants.
In addition, the lawmaker appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing necessary support and information to aid ongoing efforts to combat banditry in the area.
Special prayers seeking the return of peace and stability to Maru and its surrounding communities were held during the visit.
