Police Rescue Blasphemy Suspect from Mob at Kano Hotel
The Kano State Police Command has successfully rescued a man from an angry mob following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of the metropolis.
The intervention prevented what could have been a fatal case of extrajudicial lynching.
According to security sources, the incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Sarina Hotel, located in the Badawa Quarters.
Three men identified as Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim, and Soja Snu, all residents of Dorayi Quarters had reportedly visited the hotel to smoke shisha. The situation escalated when one of the suspects, Musa Tasiu, allegedly entered the hotel’s mosque, shattered the glass door, and proceeded to tear a copy of the Holy Qur’an.
The alleged desecration of the Holy book quickly drew the attention of people on the premises, who mobilized in large numbers to attack Tasiu.
A distress call was made to the local police division, prompting a rapid response from a patrol team.
* Rescue: Officers arrived just as the suspect was on the verge of being lynched. They managed to extract him from the scene safely.
* Restoration of Order: Normalcy was restored to the Badawa area shortly after the police arrived.
* Current Status: The suspect is currently in police custody.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed that while the situation has calmed down, a full-scale investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The police have urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to allow the legal process to handle the matter.
