Gunmen Kidnap Biu LG Vice Chairman, Two Councillors in Borno
Suspected armed assailants have kidnapped the newly elected Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area in Borno State, Alhaji Saidu, alongside two councillors from the council.
The councillors, who represent Zarawuyaku and Miringa wards, were reportedly seized on Wednesday evening while travelling on the Biu–Maiduguri road.
The abduction occurred along the stretch between Kamuya village and Buni Yadi, an area known for repeated security incidents.
The victims were said to be en route from Biu to Maiduguri when their vehicle was intercepted by the attackers. Details surrounding the operation remain sketchy.
The approximately 120-kilometre corridor linking Biu, Buratai, Kamuya, Buni, and Damaturu has for years been considered a high-risk route, frequently associated with deadly attacks, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies and state authorities had not issued any official confirmation or statement regarding the abduction or efforts being made to secure the release of the officials.
