Yagba East LGA Denies Reports of Cement Truck Carrying 21 Children
Reports claiming that a Mangal Cement truck was intercepted in Yagba East Local Government Area (LGA) carrying 21 children have been widely circulated online, but local authorities have not confirmed the incident.
The story also alleged that suspects were transferred to Lokoja, the state capital, but no official statement from law enforcement or the LGA has corroborated this claim.
While child trafficking remains a serious concern across Nigeria, especially in the northern and central regions, authorities have emphasized the importance of verifying reports before circulation. Past cases have involved traffickers using commercial trucks to transport children, but these incidents were isolated and documented separately by agencies such as the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
Officials in Kogi State continue to urge residents to report suspicious activities, particularly involving transportation of minors. They also remind the public that spreading unverified information can create panic and divert attention from legitimate efforts to combat child trafficking.
As of now, the purported interception of a Mangal Cement truck carrying children in Yagba East remains unverified, and police investigations have not publicly acknowledged any such incident. Authorities continue to monitor child safety and trafficking concerns in the region.
