Senate President Akpabio Denies Filing New Charges Against Akpoti-Uduaghan
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied reports that he recently filed a new ₦200 billion lawsuit against Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing such claims as “misleading and incorrect.”
The denial was issued on 6 December 2025 through Akpabio’s media aide, who clarified that the lawsuit was actually filed over three months ago and not recently, as some media reports suggested.
The suit reportedly relates to alleged defamation arising from earlier sexual-harassment accusations made by Akpoti-Uduaghan against Akpabio.
“The narrative that a fresh suit has been filed is part of orchestrated narratives and staged outrage on social media platforms,” the statement said. It added that any delays in the case’s progress were due to routine administrative procedures and standard judicial processes.
According to Akpabio’s office, attempts to personally serve Akpoti-Uduaghan with court documents were unsuccessful, prompting the court to grant an order for substituted service in November.
The office emphasized that current developments represent a continuation of the earlier lawsuit, not a new legal action.
The clarification comes amid growing public interest and social media discussions around the case, which has attracted significant attention in recent weeks.
