Kogi Celebrates as Nigerian Army Rescues Six Kidnapped Victims

Residents of Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi State have expressed relief following the rescue of six individuals kidnapped in the Ejiba and Saminaka forests.

The operation was carried out by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade, Lokoja, in a coordinated search-and-rescue mission.

Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Brigade, stated that the operation is part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and restore security in the state.

He explained that the combined air and ground offensives, supported by a Nigeria Police helicopter, successfully pressured the kidnappers into releasing the victims, who were subsequently intercepted at the Ejiba Patrol Base in Yagba West.

Of the six rescued, five have already returned to their families in Egbe and Ejiba communities. The sixth is receiving medical attention after being found in a weakened state.

Local leaders and residents have praised the joint efforts of the military and police, describing the rescue as a significant step toward improving security in the area.

Many expressed hope that sustained operations like this would discourage further criminal activity and reassure communities across Kogi State.
