BAT Ideological Group Meets North-West Forum Chairman Ahead of Three-Day Conference
The Convener of the BAT Ideological Group, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, on Tuesday met with the North-West Forum Chairman, Abdullahi Maikano Chiromawa, in Abuja during a dinner held ahead of a three-day conference scheduled for December 2–4, 2025.
Although the conference officially opened with a dinner on Tuesday, the main activities are expected to commence on Wednesday, December 3, with engagements involving regional representatives. At the preliminary meeting, the BAT Ideological Group interacted with delegates from Kano, Sokoto, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Jigawa, and Kebbi states.
Addressing the states present , Comrade Atoyebi outlined the vision and structure of the group, explaining that it is driven by reconciliation and conflict resolution, particularly among stakeholders, party members and support groups who feel sidelined or underappreciated.
He emphasized that the group’s reward system is well-defined and inclusive, noting that no member would be left behind. According to him, the group’s grassroots structure extends far beyond polling units and is built around a framework known as the BAT Cell Unit.
Atoyebi explained that each cell unit brings together several households under a designated leader, who oversees regular meetings where members discuss their needs, challenges, and welfare. These include issues such as the inability to meet daily needs, food insecurity, children’s education challenges, and other community concerns.
He added that the purpose of this structure is to ensure genuine leadership, community bonding and mutual support, stressing that although not everyone can hold political appointments, everyone can be carried along in the party’s development agenda. He further noted that the BAT Ideological Group is distinct from regular political support groups, as it is founded on clear ideological principles.
In his remarks, North-West Forum Chairman Abdullahi Maikano Chiromawa commended the group’s approach, expressing appreciation for their sense of inclusion and commitment. He assured the delegation of the region’s willingness to work with the BAT Ideological Group as the political landscape moves toward 2027.
