Kogi Authorities Shut Down Fuel Station, Seize Truck Over Alleged Supply to Bandits

Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area (LGA) authorities in Kogi State have shut down a NIPCO fuel station and seized a truck for allegedly supplying fuel to bandits operating in the region.

The action followed months of intelligence gathering and monitoring by security agencies, who reportedly traced the illicit fuel transactions to the station.

The suspects involved are now in custody and are undergoing investigation, with prosecution expected pending the outcome of inquiries.

Officials warned that the government would take stringent measures against individuals or businesses found aiding criminal elements, emphasizing that such acts compromise regional security and the safety of residents.

Residents welcomed the move, noting that banditry and violent crimes in parts of Kogi have often been sustained by illegal fuel supplies. “This is a positive step toward curbing criminal activities,” said one community member.

Authorities have also called on citizens to report any suspicious activities that could support criminal operations, assuring the public that such information would be treated confidentially.

The Kabba/Bunu LGA government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and vowed to continue working with security agencies to dismantle networks aiding banditry in Kogi State.
