Southern Governors’ Forum, Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council Endorse President Tinubu in Unified Show of Support

In a strong demonstration of unity, the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) and the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC) jointly passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising his leadership and unwavering commitment to national stability as a Southern extraction president.

The announcement was made during the forum hosted by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who serves as the current chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, speaking at the event, highlighted the President’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national cohesion, enhance security, and implement reforms aimed at boosting economic growth and infrastructure development across the country. He emphasized that the vote of confidence represents both a recognition of Tinubu’s leadership and a commitment to regional solidarity.

The communiqué from the joint meeting further stressed that Southern Nigeria remains united in supporting a Southern President, noting that the backing of Tinubu aligns with the Asaba Accord principle and reflects trust in his ability to govern inclusively amid rising national security and economic challenges.

Additionally, the forum and traditional rulers approved measures to enhance regional security.

These include the creation of a zonal security fund to support coordinated security operations, improved intelligence-sharing frameworks between Southern states, and renewed advocacy for the establishment of state policing in collaboration with community-based security initiatives.

Political observers note that the joint vote of confidence sends a clear signal of solidarity from Southern leaders and traditional institutions, while reinforcing Tinubu’s legitimacy as a Southern President navigating the complex security and economic landscape of Nigeria.
