NCDMB Partners Renaissance, First E&P to Launch Nigerian Engineering Olympiad
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited and First Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E&P), has unveiled the Nigerian Engineering Olympiad (NEO) a nationwide competition designed to inspire innovation among engineering students and encourage the development of solutions to pressing societal challenges.
The initiative, officially launched recently, is championed by Enactus Nigeria with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) also serving as a key partner.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Country Director of Enactus Nigeria, Mr. Michael Ajayi, explained that the Olympiad targets final-year and postgraduate engineering students across the country.
He said the goal is to equip young talents with the motivation and platform needed to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s technological and industrial development.
Ajayi described the Olympiad as a strategic push toward building a self-reliant, innovation-driven Nigeria.
“The Nigerian Engineering Olympiad embodies our belief that innovation must be nurtured where it begins in the minds of young engineers,” he stated.
He further highlighted that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world industry challenges.
“By connecting academic creativity with industry realities, NEO provides the bridge that transforms knowledge into impact, and ideas into enterprise,” Ajayi added.
The partners expressed optimism that the Olympiad will not only stimulate technical creativity but also empower emerging engineers to develop scalable, sustainable solutions across critical sectors such as energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
The competition is expected to commence with regional rounds before culminating in a national showcase where the most outstanding engineering projects will be presented to industry leaders, investors, and policymakers.
