Three Killed, Huts Burnt as Hoodlums Attack Hunters, Residents in Adamawa

Three people have been confirmed dead following a violent attack by armed hoodlums in the Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Friday afternoon.

The incident stemmed from a confrontation between hunters and suspected cattle rustlers.

The violence began around 3:20 PM when a group of hunters from Barkin Sajo, operating under the Miyetti Allah Hunters Association, pursued suspected cattle rustlers into the Mayo Suno forest. A gunfight erupted during the pursuit, which resulted in the death of one of the hunters, identified as Buji Alhaji, aged 40.

Following the initial clash, the attackers proceeded to Maigero village, where they intensified the violence by:

Setting seven thatched huts in the local market on fire.

Shooting and killing two residents, named Alhaji Haruna and Iliya Dabba.

The corpses were later recovered and moved to the cottage hospital in Song by security personnel who arrived at the scene.

Sources indicate that security agencies have launched an effort to track down the culprits responsible for the deadly attack. Furthermore, the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated a discreet inquiry into the incident to determine the identities and motives of the armed hoodlums.
