We’re Not Closing TSFUED, Management Refutes Closure Rumours, Reassures Students on Campus Safety

The management of the Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TSFUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has officially dismissed reports circulating online claiming that the institution had been shut down due to security concerns.

In a statement, the university described the circulating rumours as false and misleading, urging students, staff, parents, and the public to disregard them.

According to TSFUED officials, no attack, disturbance, or security breach occurred within the campus or its environs. Academic activities, examinations, and all university operations continue without interruption. The administration clarified that no directive was issued for students to vacate hostels or leave the campus, contrary to claims shared widely on social media.

The misleading messages, which gained traction online, had caused anxiety among students and guardians.

The university emphasised that the posts were intended to provoke fear and disrupt the calm environment maintained on campus. TSFUED called on all members of the university community to rely exclusively on official communication channels for accurate information.

Authorities also highlighted that the presence of security personnel around the campus is part of routine measures to ensure safety and should not be interpreted as a response to any emergency.

The university continues to cooperate with local security agencies to maintain a safe and stable environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Students were advised to remain calm, focus on their studies, and avoid spreading unverified information that could escalate tensions.

Parents and guardians were encouraged to contact the university directly for clarification whenever alarming news emerges online.

The incident highlights the risks posed by the rapid spread of social media rumours, particularly in academic settings where misinformation can quickly spark fear. TSFUED reiterated its commitment to providing a secure, conducive learning environment and assured the public that any legitimate updates regarding campus safety will be communicated promptly.
