Adeleke Showcases Osun Reforms as Chinese Investors Prepare Free Trade Zone Entry

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged full government backing to a visiting delegation of Chinese multi-sectoral investors as they move to establish operations in the state’s Free Trade Zone and emerging industrial hubs.

The governor gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by officials of Shanghai Fadewei International Trade Company Limited at the Government House in Osogbo.

He said Osun’s investment climate was strengthening due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades and reforms aimed at easing business processes.

Adeleke said his administration was closing infrastructure gaps across transport, education, utilities and health facilities to remove barriers for potential investors.

He added that several firms had already begun activities within the Free Trade Zone, reflecting rising confidence in Osun’s industrial prospects.

“We are fixing our roads, bridges, schools, utilities and health infrastructures. We know good infrastructure facilitates business and economic growth, hence we are reducing the Osun infra deficit,” Adeleke said.

The governor also highlighted automated tax processes and a 48-hour certificate-of-occupancy issuance system, which he described as major boosts to the state’s ease-of-doing-business ranking.

“So you have come to the right place. Our Ministry of Commerce and Industry is run by a team with international exposure.

You will be granted the best of support and facilitation services by our government,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the visitors, Dr Yusuf Fadairo said the team chose Osun because of confidence in Governor Adeleke’s governance record and the global recognition of Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

“We have inspected the zone and we are satisfied with the utilities and facilities. We are set to act once all other regulatory issues are concluded,” he said.

Members of the delegation included representatives involved in amusement park development, paint production, electric tricycle manufacturing, logistics and engineering.

Senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, attended the meeting.

The visit came shortly after the state confirmed that a Turkish furniture manufacturer would begin production in Osun — a development officials say signals growing success in attracting foreign investment.
