Anambra Guber: LP Candidate, George Moghalu Loses Polling Unit to Soludo
Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, George Moghalu, has lost his polling unit to the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Charles Soludo, in the ongoing Anambra governorship election.
The result, declared by the presiding officer, Okonkwo Ebere, around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, showed Soludo emerging victorious at Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi North Local Government Area — Moghalu’s own polling unit.
According to the official result, Soludo of APGA polled 57 votes, while Moghalu of the Labour Party secured 22 votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, trailed with 5 votes.
Out of the 463 registered voters, only 85 valid votes were recorded at the unit — representing less than 20 per cent voter turnout.
Moghalu had arrived at his polling unit earlier in the day, casting his ballot at about 11:40 a.m. in the company of his family members and close associates.
Speaking after voting, the LP candidate expressed concern over reports of vote buying and low voter participation across the state. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address the lapses and ensure better conduct of the electoral process.
He said the integrity of the election must be protected to reflect the true will of the people.
