Tinubu Will Win in 2027, Predicts Goodluck Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a small media gathering in Abuja on Monday, Jonathan, calm, reflective, and characteristically diplomatic, shared his thoughts on the state of the nation and surefootedly said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win re-election.
While answering questions about Nigeria’s direction and leadership, the former president opined, “President Tinubu has shown strength, vision, and an understanding of Nigeria’s challenges. If he stays focused and continues this way, I believe he’ll win in 2027.”
Goodluck Jonathan has always been careful with his words since leaving office in 2015. Known for his peacebuilding work across Africa and his insistence on placing democracy above personal gain, Jonathan rarely wades into day-to-day political controversy.
He was however quick to clarify that his remark wasn’t about political allegiance, adding, “This is not about party lines, It’s about performance, vision, and what Nigerians feel.”
Still, it was enough to send ripples through both Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) and Jonathan’s former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Supporters of Tinubu welcomed the praise.
Critics raised eyebrows. And political analysts began dissecting the implications.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic pressure, insecurity, and deep social divisions, the road to 2027 remains long and uncertain. For now, Jonathan’s words are less a prediction and more a reflection of the complex reality Nigeria faces—a blend of hope, hardship, and the ever-turning wheel of political fate.
But coming from a man who once willingly handed over power “to save Nigerian democracy,” his voice carries weight.
Whether Nigerians agree with him or not, Goodluck Jonathan has once again reminded the country that leadership is not just about politics—it’s about purpose, perception, and the people.
