Kamala Harris Hints at Possible 2028 Presidential Run, Says She’s ‘Not Done’ with Politics
Former US Vice President, Kamala Harris has suggested she may run again for president, saying she is “not done” with public service despite her defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC, set to air in full on Sunday, Harris confirmed she has not made a final decision but hinted strongly at a possible 2028 bid.
“I have lived my entire career a life of service, and it’s in my bones, and there are many ways to serve,” the 61-year-old said. “I’ve not decided yet what I will do in the future, beyond what I am doing right now.”
Harris, who stepped in as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate after Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 race, lost to Trump in the November election. However, she said her political journey is far from over.
The former vice president expressed confidence that the United States will eventually elect a female president, saying her grandnieces would “see a woman president in their lifetime, for sure.”
Her remarks come amid renewed public attention following the release of her memoir last month, in which she criticized Biden’s decision to seek a second term, describing it as “recklessness.”
In the book, Harris accused members of Biden’s team of failing to support her during her tenure as vice president, and at times, of actively working against her.
Political observers in Washington say Harris’s latest comments mark her clearest signal yet that she intends to remain a central figure in Democratic politics ahead of 2028.
