Pro-Tinubu Group Warns APC Chairman Nentawe Against Blocking Mutfwang’s Defection
A pro-Tinubu political group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Renewed Hope Advocates for Tinubu 2027, has cautioned the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, against any move allegedly aimed at frustrating efforts to woo Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, into the ruling party.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Hon. Sani Abdullahi, the group said it had credible information suggesting that some elements within the party’s leadership were working behind the scenes to block the Plateau governor’s planned defection to the APC.
Abdullahi described Governor Mutfwang as a “progressive-minded leader” whose inclusion in the APC fold would strengthen the party’s presence in the North Central region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “We are aware of ongoing moves by some forces loyal to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to frustrate efforts to bring Governor Mutfwang into our party. Such acts run contrary to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of building a broad-based, inclusive political movement that cuts across party lines.”
The group further urged the APC national leadership to prioritize unity and expansion rather than personal or regional rivalries, adding that political inclusion remains one of the key pillars of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Abdullahi called on Prof. Yilwatda to emulate the President’s reconciliatory approach, noting that the APC stands to gain significantly if Governor Mutfwang, known for his grassroots appeal and developmental strides in Plateau State, joins the party.
“We must not allow internal politics to derail the President’s vision. Governor Mutfwang’s entry into the APC will boost our electoral strength and consolidate the party’s dominance ahead of 2027,” the statement added.
The group reaffirmed its loyalty to President Tinubu and pledged continued support for his administration’s policies aimed at national growth and unity.
