Barcelona Humiliate Olympiacos 6–1 as Fermin Lopez, Rashford Shine in Champions League Rout

Barcelona produced a stunning display on Tuesday night, thrashing Olympiacos 6–1 to reignite their Champions League campaign.

Fermin Lopez bagged a superb hat-trick, while Marcus Rashford struck twice to seal a dominant performance that lifted the Catalans back into contention in the group stage.

Teen sensation Lamine Yamal was also on the scoresheet for Hansi Flick’s side, who bounced back impressively after their defeat to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in their previous European outing.

Despite being without key players such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and several others, an injury-hit Barcelona side showed resilience and flair at the Olympic Stadium. The victory lifted them provisionally to third in their group and provided a timely confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s El Clásico clash with Real Madrid. “I’m very happy. We needed a win like this,” said hat-trick hero Fermin Lopez after the match. “We ended the game feeling good, and now our focus is on the Clásico.”

Barcelona were nearly punished early on after Alejandro Balde lost possession, forcing goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny into a fine save from Daniel Podence. But Balde quickly redeemed himself, driving forward from the left flank to help create the opener.

After linking up with youngster Dro Fernandez, Balde’s pass led to a scramble in the box, where Lopez pounced on a loose ball to make it 1–0. Rashford, who is enjoying a strong spell on loan from Manchester United, was a constant threat and came close with a free-kick that brushed the side-netting. Lopez doubled Barca’s advantage before halftime after being set up by Fernandez, marking a dream night for the midfielder.

Olympiacos briefly fought back when Ayoub El Kaabi converted from the penalty spot after Eric Garcia was penalized for handball, but their hopes quickly faded when Santiago Hezze was shown a second yellow card for a soft challenge on Marc Casado.

Barcelona made full use of the numerical advantage. Rashford won a penalty after being brought down by goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, allowing Yamal to coolly slot home from the spot. Moments later, Rashford added two more goals in quick succession — both precise low finishes at the near post — while Lopez completed his hat-trick to round off an emphatic victory.

The result marks a turning point for Flick’s men, who had been struggling for consistency. With the Clasico looming, the convincing win offers both momentum and morale.

Barcelona will hope to carry this form into their domestic campaign as they look to close the gap at the top of La Liga and continue their pursuit of European glory.
