Ex-Presidential Aide, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, Dumps PDP for APC

Dr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, a former Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Matters and Social Events to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and formal defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dudafa, who previously served in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, disclosed his decision in a statement issued in Yenagoa on Saturday.
The politician also conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward 8 in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.
According to him, the move followed a period of extensive reflection and consultations with political allies, supporters, and family members.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately,” he wrote. “Serving within the party has been an honour, and I value the dedication and shared vision of those I worked with.”
Explaining the rationale behind his decision, Dudafa lamented the deepening internal crises within the PDP, especially at the national level, which he said had stalled progress and fostered division.
“The unresolved conflicts within the party have hindered our collective ability to move forward,” he noted. “Rather than fostering unity and purpose, they have created an atmosphere of discord that no longer aligns with the ideals we once stood for.”
The former presidential aide affirmed that his political commitment remains anchored on service to the people and the pursuit of development-driven leadership.
“Though this decision was not an easy one, my dedication to the welfare and progress of our people remains unwavering,” he said.
Announcing his new political direction, Dudafa confirmed his entry into the APC, describing the ruling party as a platform that represents renewed hope and a stronger vehicle for unity and growth.
“After careful consideration, I have chosen to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), which I believe provides a more solid foundation to address the challenges confronting our state and nation,” he declared.
He also extended goodwill to his new political family, expressing optimism about working with like-minded individuals in the APC to promote shared development goals.
“I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues who share this vision,” he stated.
Dudafa expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities and relationships built during his years of membership and wished the party success in resolving its ongoing internal issues.
