Write Your Wills Before Trying to Rig 2027 Abia Governorship Election, Otti Warns Plotters

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has warned those allegedly plotting to manipulate the 2027 governorship election in the state, saying anyone planning to “write election results” should first “write their wills.”

Governor Otti gave the warning during his monthly media chat at the Government House, Umuahia, on Thursday. He said credible intelligence revealed that some political actors are already boasting about plans to take over the state through illegal means, but vowed that such attempts would meet stiff resistance.

“I’ve heard that some people are saying if they must take over Abia State, they will write results. My advice to them is simple before they write results, they should write something else their wills,” Otti declared.

The governor stressed that the era of electoral manipulation in Abia is over, noting that the people’s votes will continue to determine who governs the state. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and respect for the democratic process.

Otti also cautioned aspirants and political parties against engaging in early campaigns ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) official timetable, warning that violators could face sanctions, including disqualification.

He urged residents, security agencies, and electoral officials to remain alert and protect the integrity of the ballot as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.

Governor Otti, who ended over two decades of the Peoples Democratic Party’s dominance in the 2023 election, said his focus remains on delivering good governance rather than playing politics, assuring Abians that “the will of God and the people will always prevail.”
