Abia APC Stakeholders Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State have come together to pledge their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The meeting, hosted by former governor and Senate Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, also aimed at strategizing on how to defeat the current Labour Party administration of Governor Alex Otti in the state.
The gathering, which took place at Senator Kalu’s residence, was attended by prominent APC leaders in the state, including the APC National Welfare Secretary, Donatus Nwankpa, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, and former Commissioner for Finance, Obinna Oriaku, among others.
Speaking after the meeting, Senator Kalu expressed his delight at the renewed unity within the party, stating that it was in line with President Tinubu’s directive to reconcile party members in their respective states. He emphasized that the party’s unity was crucial in ensuring that Abia State benefits from the federal government’s interventions, citing the example of the federal government’s projects in Abia North Senatorial District.
Senator Kalu also warned that anyone who engages in anti-party activities would be sanctioned, emphasizing that the party’s leadership was committed to working together to achieve their goals. He expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections, stating that the people of Abia State would benefit from the federal government’s “might” if they join the APC.
On his part, APC National Welfare Secretary, Donatus Nwankpa, stated that the meeting was aimed at redirecting the party and consolidating its gains in recent times. He noted that the APC in Abia State has experienced a significant influx of members from other parties, with over 70% of former PDP members joining the party in the last two years.
Nwankpa called on party leaders to bury their differences and work together to capture the government house in Abia State in 2027. He warned that any leader who supports the incumbent governor or engages in anti-party activities would be denounced, suspended, or face other disciplinary actions.
The APC National Welfare Secretary also assured President Tinubu of the party’s unwavering support, stating that they would not need to beg for 25% of the votes in Abia State, as the party would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections. He commended the National Chairman of the APC, describing him as a “national chairman with the Midas touch of victory,” and appreciated the leadership of Governors Hope Uzodinma and Nwifuru in the South East.
The meeting marked a significant turning point for the APC in Abia State, as the party seeks to reclaim the state from the Labour Party administration. With the 2027 elections approaching, the APC is poised to launch a strong campaign to win over the hearts and minds of the people of Abia State.
