APC Hails Tinubu’s Economic Reforms as World Bank, IMF Endorse Nigeria’s Growth Path

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as transformative policies that have repositioned Nigeria for sustainable growth and global recognition.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party said the endorsements from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) validate the success of the Tinubu administration’s economic agenda, which is driving diversification, job creation, and inclusive growth.

“The All Progressives Congress is heartened by global acclaim of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms that are yielding extraordinary results,” the statement read. “Nigeria now stands on the cusp of prosperity of a kind never before seen in our history.”

According to the party, Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rose to 4.23% in the second quarter of 2025, surpassing the IMF’s earlier projection of 3.4%. The IMF has since upgraded Nigeria’s growth forecast to 3.9% for 2025 and 4.2% for 2026, while the World Bank projects a further rise to 4.4% by 2027, driven by the expansion of services, agriculture, and non-oil sectors.

The APC noted that these achievements stand out against a global backdrop of slowing economic growth, as both international institutions have forecasted global growth of around 3.1% to 3.2% for 2025 and 2026.

“President Tinubu’s leadership has made Nigeria a standout performer in a period of global slowdown,” Morka said.

The statement acknowledged persistent domestic challenges, including food inflation, poverty, and infrastructure deficits, but expressed confidence that ongoing reforms and social programs would ease these pressures.

The World Bank projects a modest reduction in poverty by 2027 as the administration’s agricultural initiatives and social protection schemes begin to yield results.

The APC also highlighted significant fiscal improvements, including a 44.3% increase in trade surplus in Q2 2025, totaling ₦7.46 trillion, and a 40.5% rise in non-oil revenue to ₦20.59 trillion between January and August 2025.

It further noted that non-oil revenue targets were met four months ahead of schedule, while monthly allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) surpassed ₦2 trillion for the first time.

In addition, the Nigerian Customs Service reportedly exceeded its revenue target by ₦390 billion, collecting ₦3.68 trillion. The APC attributed these milestones to fiscal discipline, the end of Ways and Means financing, improved NNPC remittances, and exchange rate harmonization, all of which have contributed to stabilizing the Naira and reducing inflation to 20.1%.

“With strong foreign investment inflows, including a $300 billion commitment from Qatari investors, Nigeria is on course to exceed global growth projections,” the party asserted.

The APC also dismissed opposition criticism, calling rival parties “rudderless and confused,” while affirming that President Tinubu remains focused on his mission to build a prosperous and resilient nation.

“His re-election in 2027 will be a vote for Nigeria’s onward and confident march to enduring prosperity,” Morka stated.

The party urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, emphasizing that the country is entering an era of peace, progress, and shared prosperity.
