Akon’s Wife Demands €100 Million Divorce Settlement; Court Finds Only $10K in Singer’s Account

Internationally renowned R&B singer and producer, Akon is facing a shocking legal and financial crisis as his wife, Tomeka Thiam, has filed for divorce after 29 years of marriage and is demanding a massive €100 million (approximately $105 million USD) settlement.

The news, which has stunned fans and legal experts, was intensified by a discovery made during court investigations: despite Akon’s reported net worth of between $50 million and $80 million, court documents allegedly showed only $10,000 in his personal bank account.

Wealth Allegedly Held in Mother’s Name

Legal officials were reportedly shocked to find that the bulk of Akon’s wealth—which stems from his music career, record labels (Konvict Muzik), real estate, and major projects like the proposed $6 billion Akon City in Senegal—is not held in his name, but rather under his mother’s.

Tomeka Thiam is seeking the nine-figure compensation, claiming she played a key role in building his extensive business empire, which includes the Akon Lighting Africa initiative and investments in diamond mines.

The financial maneuver has led to speculation that the artist may have strategically transferred his assets to shield them from claims in the ongoing divorce battle.

The financial revelation has sparked widespread discussion online, with many questioning how a globally famous figure could have such minimal personal liquidity.

Experts in family law suggest that if the assets are confirmed to be legally out of the singer’s control, the divorce settlement process could become significantly more complicated.

Akon and his representatives have yet to publicly comment on the ongoing legal proceedings, leaving further developments in the highly publicized case pending.

Thiam filed for divorce on September 11, citing irreconcilable differences, just days before what would have been the couple’s 29th wedding anniversary.
