FCT Police in Crackdown, Raid Uncompleted Buildings, Criminal Hideouts
The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, AIG Ajao Adewale, has ordered a coordinated clampdown on uncompleted buildings and suspected criminal hideouts across Abuja.
The directive, which takes immediate effect, mandates all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and tactical units to identify and raid such locations, particularly in satellite towns and developing districts, which have reportedly become sanctuaries for hoodlums and criminal gangs.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, the move is part of renewed efforts to curb rising incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping, drug peddling, and other crimes within the FCT.
Adewale expressed concern that many of the uncompleted and abandoned buildings scattered across the capital city have become operational bases for criminal elements who take advantage of their obscurity to plan and execute crimes.
He stressed that the operation will be intelligence-driven and conducted in line with human rights standards, assuring residents that law-abiding citizens and legitimate property owners have nothing to fear.
“We are committed to ensuring that Abuja remains one of the safest capitals in Africa. All uncompleted buildings and suspected hideouts will be searched, and anyone found wanting will face the full weight of the law,” the Commissioner stated.
Residents have been urged to support the police by providing credible information on suspicious movements or activities within their neighborhoods through the Command’s emergency lines.
The FCT Command has also deployed more patrol teams to flashpoints and critical areas to strengthen visibility policing and reassure residents of their safety.
