Bundesliga: Diaz, Kane on Target as Bayern Go Four Points Clear

Luis Díaz struck twice, including one of the fastest goals in Bundesliga history, while Harry Kane added another as Bayern Munich beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 away on Saturday to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Díaz opened the scoring after just 15 seconds when Serge Gnabry intercepted a loose Frankfurt pass and set him up to fire past goalkeeper Kaua Santos.

The Colombian’s effort was the third-fastest goal in the league’s history.

Frankfurt thought they had equalised in the 15th minute through Jean-Matteo Bahoya, but the strike was disallowed by VAR for a handball in the build-up.

Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage just before the half-hour mark, drilling a low shot from distance into the bottom corner for his 11th league goal in just six matches this season.

The England captain later limped off after colliding with Santos but insisted he would be fit to join the national team during the international break.

Díaz completed his brace in the 84th minute, taking his tally to six goals in 10 games since joining from Liverpool in the summer, and sealing Bayern’s victory that moves them four points clear at the summit.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund were held 1-1 at home by RB Leipzig. Christoph Baumgartner gave the visitors an early lead before Yan Couto equalised midway through the first half.

Dortmund had late chances to snatch the win but Julian Brandt headed over with two minutes remaining.

The result leaves Dortmund second, a point behind Bayern, with Leipzig a further point back in third.

At BayArena, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Union Berlin 2-0 courtesy of goals from summer signings Ernest Poku and Christian Kofane, though captain Alex Grimaldo was stretchered off following a head injury.

Werder Bremen secured a 1-0 home win over St Pauli thanks to Samuel Mbangula’s early strike, while Augsburg snapped a four-game losing run with a 3-1 victory over Wolfsburg.
