Plateau Announces Road Closures Ahead of Tinubu’s Visit for APC Chair’s Mother’s Burial

The Plateau State Government has announced traffic restrictions in Jos and Bukuru ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

The President is expected in Jos to attend the burial of Nana Lydia Yilwada, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, in a statement on Friday, said several routes within the metropolis would be closed from 7 a.m. to allow for the smooth movement of the Presidential convoy.

“The following routes would be closed: Mararaban Jama’a through Bukuru expressway; Dadin-Kowa, Old Airport, to Plateau Hospital roundabout; Hillstation roundabout to COCIN Headquarters/Central Bank road,” the statement read.

Ramnap urged motorists to use alternative roads and appealed for public cooperation, noting that the measures were temporary and taken in the interest of security and order.

Meanwhile, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called on Plateau residents to accord Tinubu a warm reception.

“Tomorrow, we will be receiving Mr. President in Jos, Plateau State, as he comes to honour our late mother, the mother of my dear brother, the National Chairman of the APC,” Mutfwang said.

He stressed the importance of unity and peace, urging citizens to work together to realise Plateau’s full potential.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, also confirmed that the President would attend the funeral prayers of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe before addressing Christian leaders from across northern Nigeria at the headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Jos.
