Musk Urges Followers to Drop Netflix Over “Transgender Propaganda” Claims

Elon Musk has called on his more than 227 million followers on X to cancel their Netflix subscriptions, accusing the streaming giant of pushing what he described as “transgender propaganda.”
The Tesla and SpaceX chief amplified a boycott campaign initiated by conservative account *Libs of TikTok*, which highlighted the animated series *Dead End: Paranormal Park* and Netflix’s diversity policies as reasons to abandon the platform.
The series’ creator, Hamish Steele, came under fire after resurfaced social media posts about conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s shooting were circulated by right-wing activists. Conservatives online described the remarks as offensive, fueling the controversy.
Netflix’s stock dipped 2% on Wednesday as the backlash spread and fell by the same margin again on Thursday during Wall Street trading.
“Cancel Netflix,” Musk wrote in a repost of *Libs of TikTok*’s message, which included screenshots of a company report showing a rise in non-white directors and lead actors across Netflix programming. In a follow-up post, he doubled down: “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.”
Steele, in since-deleted posts on Bluesky, rejected the accusations, saying: “It’s all lies and slander!”
Musk’s position carries personal undertones. His eldest daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, came out as transgender in 2022, legally changing both her name and gender. Musk has since claimed that she was “killed by the woke mind virus” promoted by her California school.
