Tinubu Names Adebisi Yusuf as New Political Leader of Alimosho

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally endorsed Honourable Adebisi Yusuf, widely known as Bisi Yusuf, as the political leader of Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos State, a role previously held by former minister Rauf Aregbesola.
The announcement came in a birthday tribute issued by the president, in which he lauded Yusuf’s long-standing contributions as a financial expert, legislator, grassroots mobilizer, and philanthropist.
Tinubu also praised him for galvanizing public backing for the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Yusuf, a seasoned politician, represented Alimosho Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly for three consecutive terms, spanning 12 years.
He also served as chairman of the Ipaja/Ayobo Local Council Development Area and headed major committees in the state legislature, including commerce and public accounts.
Political observers interpret Tinubu’s recognition of Yusuf as a deliberate strategy to reduce the influence of Aregbesola, his one-time ally who once held sway in Alimosho.
Aregbesola, now the national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is part of a coalition working to challenge Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
For much of his career, Yusuf had been seen as a political figure under Aregbesola’s shadow. With this latest move, Tinubu has elevated a dependable loyalist to strengthen his grip on Alimosho—Lagos State’s most populous local government and a decisive factor in past electoral victories.
The development underscores Alimosho’s continuing role as a hotbed of political rivalry and influence within Lagos politics.
