Value Jet to Begin Passenger Flights at Ogun’s Gateway International Airport October 7

The Ogun State Government has confirmed that Value Jet Airline will start scheduled passenger flights at the newly built Gateway International Airport, Ilisan-Iperu Remo axis, beginning October 7.
According to a statement issued on Friday by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, the airline received clearance from aviation regulators to commence operations.
The flight schedule shows that Value Jet will run services between Gateway International Airport (GWI) and Abuja twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Outbound flights will leave GWI at 8:30 a.m. and land in Abuja at 9:45 a.m., while the return service will depart Abuja at 4:00 p.m. and touch down in Ogun by 5:15 p.m.
The airline announced that ticket sales would begin on September 25 through its website, accredited travel agents, and sales points at the Gateway International Airport.
Akinmade noted that the development would boost regional connectivity, benefitting travellers from Ibadan, Lagos, Ogun State, and Abuja. He added that business executives, contractors, bankers, government officials, and leisure passengers have already expressed enthusiasm about using the new facility, which provides easy access to Lagos and other destinations.
Governor Abiodun, while announcing in August that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had granted Aerodrome Operational Permits to the state-owned airport, described the certification as a landmark achievement.
He emphasized that this is the first newly constructed airport in Nigeria to be certified under current regulatory standards.
The NCAA, after conducting detailed technical inspections and audits, reportedly commended the Gateway International Airport as a benchmark for future aviation projects in the country, citing its modern design and readiness for commercial service.
