University of Lagos’ Faculty of Arts Alumni Association Launches ₦500m Endowment Fund

The Faculty of Arts Alumni Association of the University of Lagos is set to unveil a ₦500 million Endowment Trust Fund to commemorate the faculty’s 60th anniversary.

This initiative aims to bolster the faculty’s growth, supporting students with special needs, research innovation, and scholarships for indigent students.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Francis Shonubi, emphasized the significance of this endowment, stating that it will position the Faculty of Arts for future success.

The faculty has made remarkable strides despite limited resources, and this fund will enable it to thrive for another 60 years.

The anniversary celebration, themed “Humanities as the Tech Solution to Global Crisis in 21st Century Africa,” highlights the faculty’s commitment to harnessing humanities to address pressing challenges.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Akanbi Mudasiru Ilupeju, noted that the celebration is an opportunity to reflect on achievements and chart a new course for the faculty’s future.

The endowment fund will support various initiatives, including the “Light Up Arts Complex” solar project. Shonubi urged alumni, corporate organizations, and the public to support the project, emphasizing the importance of empowering the arts to shape society.

The 60th-anniversary will take place from October 19 to October 25, 2025, featuring academic, cultural, and social activities.

The event will culminate in a Gala Night and Award Dinner at the Protea by Marriott Select Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja, with prominent dignitaries in attendance.
