Tinubu Inaugurates Tantita-Funded Facilities at Kaduna Sultan Bello Mosque

President Bola Tinubu on Friday inaugurated new facilities at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, praising Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for financing the project that combines faith with community development.

The company, chaired by former Niger Delta militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), funded the construction of a modern ablution centre, 50 restrooms with VIP sections, and a 300,000-litre overhead water tank to serve worshippers and the wider Ungwan Sarki community.

Tinubu, who visited Kaduna to attend the wedding of the son of former Zamfara State governor Abdul’Aziz Yari, described the intervention as “a shining example of unity and corporate responsibility that transcends regional and religious divides.”

He stressed that the initiative proved how private-sector actors could support government in delivering vital social infrastructure.

Before the project, the mosque — built in 1962 and recognised as one of Northern Nigeria’s foremost Islamic centres — relied on a small, ageing ablution point that often fell short during Juma’at prayers.

The new facility now allows more than 300 worshippers to perform ablution at once, while the water tank guarantees steady supply for both the mosque and surrounding homes.

“For years, we struggled, especially on Fridays when thousands came to pray. The old ablution spot could not cope with the numbers.

“Now, with this big facility and steady water, things will be much easier for everyone,” said Aminu Bello, a resident of Ungwan Sarki.

Site engineer Abba Mubashir highlighted the company’s attention to quality.

“From the foundation to the final touches, everything was done to the highest standards. The ablution area is spacious, the restrooms are modern, and the 300,000-litre tank now supplies water to the mosque and the community,” he told journalists.

Mubashir added that Tantita had funded other projects in Kaduna, including an Islamic school in Ambushia and a Christian school in Sabo.

“This shows that the company’s commitment goes beyond religious or regional lines. It is about uplifting communities wherever help is needed,” he said.

Chief Ladan of Sultan Bello Mosque, Malam Abdurrahman Abdulhamid, said the new facilities ended years of frustration.

“Alhamdulillah, this project was initially started by Jack Rich but was abandoned for over three to four years. Tantita came in and completed it.

“Now, 300 people can perform ablution at once, we have 50 toilets including VIP sections, and the 300,000-litre tank will serve both the mosque and the entire Ungwan Sarki area,” he said.

Abdulhamid prayed for Tantita Security Services and encouraged other corporations to invest in social projects that directly touch communities.

The commissioning reflected a growing trend of private-sector organisations bridging infrastructure gaps traditionally left for government agencies.
