ADC Blasts Senate Over ‘Dubious’ Block on Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Return

Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed skepticism regarding the Senate’s rationale for barring Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from resuming her legislative duties.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Abdullahi described the Senate’s claim that a pending court case prevents the senator’s return as “dubious.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was suspended for six months following her petition alleging sexual harassment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Despite the completion of her suspension period, the Senate has yet to permit her to resume her duties, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.
Abdullahi emphasized that the suspension had a fixed duration and should have concluded as scheduled.
He questioned the legitimacy of using an unresolved court case as a basis to extend the suspension indefinitely.
The ADC has called for the immediate reinstatement of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging the Senate to uphold democratic principles and allow the duly elected representative to resume her legislative responsibilities.
