It’s Official, INEC Recognises David Mark as ADC National Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised the new leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Senate President, Senator David Bonaventure Mark.
The recognition, which was reflected on the commission’s official website on Wednesday in Abuja, brings an end to months of leadership tussle within the opposition party.
INEC updated the party’s particulars to include the newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC), with Senator Mark listed as the National Chairman. Former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, was also confirmed as the National Secretary.
The commission’s decision followed weeks of internal wrangling and rival claims to the party’s leadership, which had stalled several of its political activities.
Political observers say the recognition of Senator Mark’s leadership is expected to stabilise the ADC ahead of upcoming electoral engagements.
Senator Mark, a two-term Senate President and one of Nigeria’s most experienced politicians, is expected to bring his wealth of political and legislative experience to reposition the ADC for greater relevance in national politics.
Party insiders disclosed that consultations have already begun on how to rebuild grassroots structures and attract new members across the country under the new leadership.
With this recognition, the ADC now joins the growing list of opposition parties restructuring their leadership in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
