NSUK VC, ASUU Pledge Cooperation for University’s Growth

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has assured of closer collaboration between the university management and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), NSUK chapter, in a bid to advance the institution’s development agenda.
Professor Liman gave the assurance on Tuesday when she hosted the newly elected executive members of ASUU-NSUK in her office. The courtesy visit, according to a statement issued by the university’s Information and Protocol Unit, provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and shared responsibility in addressing challenges facing the university.
She congratulated the new ASUU executives on their election and urged them to see their mandate as a call to service for the collective good of the institution.
“The management values the role of ASUU as a critical stakeholder in shaping policies, improving staff welfare, and ensuring academic excellence,” the vice-chancellor was quoted as saying.
Responding, the newly elected ASUU-NSUK Chairperson, pledged the union’s readiness to work with the university administration in tackling pressing issues such as staff welfare, research funding, infrastructure, and academic standards. He stressed that cooperation, rather than confrontation, would yield better outcomes for both staff and students.
The meeting also explored avenues for promoting a stable academic calendar, enhancing teaching and learning facilities, and attracting external partnerships to boost the university’s profile.
Observers note that the renewed synergy between the management and ASUU comes at a critical time, as universities across Nigeria continue to grapple with funding constraints, infrastructural gaps, and the need for global competitiveness.
With both sides pledging to prioritize dialogue and cooperation, stakeholders expressed optimism that NSUK is poised for greater growth and stability in the coming years.
