Nigeria to Replicate Aviation, Consular Agreements with Colombia, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has pledged Nigeria’s readiness to deepen bilateral relations with Colombia, with particular focus on aviation and consular cooperation, mirroring existing agreements with Brazil.
Speaking on Monday at the State House, Abuja, while receiving the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez, Tinubu said Nigeria is committed to expanding its global partnerships to match shifting international economic and political dynamics.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President noted that Nigeria will fast-track the implementation of all agreements reached during the bilateral discussions led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and his Colombian counterpart.
“I believe the Vice President and his team have done the job. Our business opportunities with Colombia have already been enhanced. I support every aspect that you have agreed on,” Tinubu said.
The Colombian delegation, which included senior government officials, business leaders, and diplomats, was in Nigeria to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
Tinubu stressed that global economic volatility and evolving international policies required both nations to seek new areas of collaboration for mutual growth and prosperity.
The President assured that the aviation and consular pacts already in place with Brazil would serve as a template for similar agreements with Colombia, aimed at boosting connectivity, trade, and people-to-people relations between Africa’s largest economy and the South American nation.
