Cross River APC Stakeholders Endorse Otu for Second Term, Pledge Support for 2027 Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Cross River state has endorsed Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy, Hon Peter Odey, for a second term in office.
The endorsement came after an extensive consultation between the State Working Committee and State Executive Committee in Calabar on Monday.
The stakeholders, as disclosed by the APC chairman in Cross River, Barr Alphonsus Eba, were motivated by Governor Otu’s exemplary leadership and giant leaps in various sectors, including infrastructure, health, agriculture, and education. Eba praised the wisdom of the governor and the party’s wisdom in embracing his re-election bid.
“The clear guidance that led to Senator Bassey Edet Otu’s emergence as our party’s candidate in 2022 and his subsequent victory in 2023, along with his nearly two years in office, confirm that our choice was indeed the right one,” Eba said. “It’s a well-known fact that one should not alter a successful team. Our governor possesses great wisdom, and thus, our party has decided that this exceptional duo, Otu and Odey, by the special grace of God will fly the flag of our party in 2027.”
Eba emphasized that the party’s support for Governor Otu and his deputy is complete, and that they will get a sole ticket for the governor’s re-election bid, just as they did in 2023. However, he explained that no automatic return ticket will be offered for any other position apart from that of the Governor and the Deputy Governor, and that anybody is free to aspire to any other positions.
“Politics in Cross River state, we’d like to say that anybody who is interested in running for any office, apart from the Governor and Deputy Governor, is free to do so,” Eba said. “We have not promised automatic seats or tickets to anyone except the Governor and Deputy Governor. All persons are therefore called upon to kindly return to their constituents and involve them and ensure that they obtain the support of their people.”
The chairman of the APC called on members of the party to get involved with their constituencies and try to obtain their support, as next year the party’s primaries will be conducted. He also commended the party’s representatives for their performance and asked them to perform even better in order to obtain the approval of their electorates.
