RCCG Apapa Family Renamed ‘The Favoured Family’ by Pastor Adeboye

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG),Pastor Enoch Adeboye has renamed the RCCG Apapa Family to “The Favoured Family”.

The renaming was done on Sunday during Pastor Adeboye’s second visit to Trinity Towers, the headquarters of the RCCG City of David parish, which is the hub of the Apapa Family.

According to Pastor Adeboye, the name change of the parish was a divine mandate. From 2 Kings 2:19-24, he taught that the Apapa Family needed a new outpouring of grace, symbolized by the re-commencement of salt and a new cruse. The salt, symbolizing God’s restoring back the flavour and seasoning, removing bitterness, and covering from satanic attacks, and the new cruse for a new life, restoration of lost glory, and recommitment to revive spiritual fire, are what he symbolized.

He emphasized that renaming the parish was an appeal for revival, a call for the members to renew their fire of spirit and glow brightly again.

“If a person had at some time in the past been hot and became lukewarm, he would now glow brightly again,” he declared.

The RCCG Apapa Family, which is also referred to as The Favoured Family, traces its roots to 1991 when Pastor Tony Rapu began it with just 50 members at Roxy Cinema, Apapa. The family has witnessed great transformations over the years as various pastors contributed to its growth.

The family vision is to capture heaven, take as many with us, develop leaders, and create a people with the Spirit of excellence, faithfulness, character, and integrity.

The parish has also undergone some leadership changes, with Pastor Eskor Mfon, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, and now Pastor Kayode Pitan, who was inaugurated as Head of the Apapa Family on September 1, 2024, driving its expansion and growth. The parish is going to keep continuing its evangelization, sowing God’s government, and demonstrating the viability of Christianity through novel and modern expressions of religion.

The change of name for the parish is seen as a milestone in the history of the RCCG Apapa Family, and members are to accept the change of name and the new life it represents. As Pastor Adeboye said, the name “The Favoured Family” is a reminder of God’s favour and blessing, and an open invitation to members to do their best as God’s children.
