NECO Migrates to Computer-Based Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that it will transition from traditional paper-pencil exams to a full computer-based system starting with the November/December 2025 SSCE External.

To ensure a smooth rollout, NECO is inviting interested Computer-Based Centre Operators to apply for registration, subject to strict technical, infrastructural, and security requirements.

The examination body has outlined detailed guidelines for centre requirements, including system standards, hall specifications, and security measures. Each centre must have a minimum of 150 functional computer systems with specific hardware and software specifications, robust servers, and adequate backup power supply.

Additionally, centres must be dedicated CBT facilities with adequate security, CCTV surveillance, and reliable internet signals.

NECO has emphasized the importance of security and integrity, requiring CBT staff to be dependable and trustworthy individuals of high moral standing. The council has also specified requirements for hall facilities, including individual cubicles, air-conditioned halls, and internal toilets.

The guidelines are part of NECO’s efforts to modernize its examination processes and ensure the credibility and security of its exams.

By transitioning to a computer-based system, NECO aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of its examination processes.
