Osun Governor Assures on Restoration of Local Government Operations

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured that his administration will ensure the local government areas in the state resume operations.
The governor made this declaration during a reception hosted in his honor by the Peoples Democratic Party leadership at the party’s State Secretariat in Osogbo.
The local government areas have been non-functional since February 17 due to a power tussle between the PDP and APC over control of the council areas.
The APC claims that the Appeal Court’s decision on February 10, 2025, returned the officials elected in the October 15, 2022 elections to office, while the PDP insists that the local government chairmen and councilors elected in the February 22, 2025 polls have the mandate to manage the affairs of the local government areas.
Adeleke likened the challenges facing his administration to the Biblical story of Pharaoh, saying that some individuals are opposed to the progress and development of Osun State.
He called on party members to mobilize support, participate in the Continuous Voters Registration, and encourage others to register for the Permanent Voters Card.
The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and the Deputy Senate Minority Leader have pledged their support for Adeleke’s administration and urged party members to remain committed to the party. They also encouraged members to participate actively in the CVR process in preparation for the 2026 governorship polls.
