Budget Ministry, NESG Announce 2025 Economic Summit

The Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in partnership with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), has unveiled plans for the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit (NES #31), scheduled to hold in Abuja from October 6 to 8, 2025.

Themed “The Reform Imperative: Building a Prosperous and Inclusive Nigeria by 2030,” the summit will focus on how Nigeria’s ongoing reforms can be consolidated to deliver sustainable growth and development.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, said the forum will serve as a platform to review the impact of government policies and strengthen strategies to ensure they translate into meaningful outcomes for citizens. He stressed that policy consistency and private sector collaboration remain critical to achieving prosperity.

“The theme reflects the urgency of reforms in our economic journey. Our future as a nation depends on sustaining policies that drive growth, stability and inclusion,” Bagudu stated.

The Chief Executive Officer of NESG, Laoye Jaiyeola, described the summit as a vital channel for dialogue between the government and private sector. He noted that the summit has, over the years, influenced key reforms across banking, telecommunications, agriculture and energy. According to him, NES #31 will offer an opportunity to interrogate policy choices, address challenges and build consensus on reforms that can deliver inclusive growth.

This year’s edition will bring together policymakers, business leaders, civil society, academics, development partners and youth representatives. The programme will feature plenary sessions, panel discussions and side events, with hybrid participation options for both local and international audiences.
The 2025 summit comes at a critical moment, as the Tinubu administration continues to implement structural adjustments such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate reforms and fiscal consolidation.

Organisers say discussions at the event will be anchored on ensuring that these reforms deliver real results for Nigerians.
Further details on speakers and sessions are expected to be released in the weeks ahead.
