Lawyer Victor Giwa Warns Nigerians on “Terrorism Tag” by Canadian Tribunal

In a compelling appearance on Channel TV’s Morning Brief earlier today, lawyer Victor Giwa issued a timely warning to Nigerians engaged in political endeavors.

He underscored how the Canadian immigration tribunal’s recent decision to label Nigeria’s major political parties—the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)—as terrorist-linked has sent ripples across the nation.

Giwa examined the tribunal’s ruling, highlighting its grave implications for Nigerian politicians. “Nigerians should be aware that their activities—what they do in pursuit of political power—are known to everyone,” he stressed, signaling that such labels could follow individuals beyond national borders and impact personal and political credibility.

The tribunal’s characterization of the APC and PDP as having associations with terrorism is explosive, carrying potential consequences for travel, diplomatic relations, and foreign trust.

Giwa warned that such classifications could stigmatize political figures, hamper their international movement, and affect visa and immigration proceedings.
He urged political actors to conduct themselves with heightened transparency and accountability.

Giwa reminded Nigerians that actions taken in the political arena are increasingly subject to international scrutiny.

“Your conduct is being watched—not just at home but across the globe,” he said, urging leaders and aspirants alike to be mindful of their behavior and rhetoric.

The tribunal’s verdict, though external, resonates powerfully within Nigeria’s political system. It raises concerns about how domestic actions can be interpreted in international forums and emphasizes the importance of integrity in political conduct.

Giwa’s commentary suggests that these developments could redefine how Nigerian politicians are perceived globally, affecting international partnerships and public confidence.
