Tinubu Describes APC’s Bye-Election Victories as Clear Endorsement of His Renewed Hope Agenda
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its sweeping victories in the just-concluded bye-elections, describing the outcome as an unmistakable demonstration of the people’s confidence in his administration and a strong endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The elections, which were conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across 12 states on Saturday, saw the APC secure 12 out of the 16 seats contested. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two constituencies, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) took one each.
The results further consolidated the ruling party’s dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu congratulated the APC family for what he called a landmark electoral success. He specifically commended the party’s new National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, APC governors, and other party leaders for working together to deliver what he described as a resounding victory.
He also praised INEC for what he noted was a peaceful and credible process.
“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown real leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when the right candidates are presented and when there is unity among party leaders. To our faithful members and the electorate, I say thank you for trusting us. Renewed Hope is not just a slogan—it is a national journey towards a safer, more prosperous, and more secure Nigeria. By the Grace of God, we shall get there,” Tinubu stated.
The President further urged political stakeholders across the country to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, fairness, and magnanimity in both victory and defeat, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy would only grow stronger through mutual respect and a commitment to democratic values.
Reacting to the outcome, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the party’s overwhelming success reflected “a solid vote of confidence in President Tinubu’s government and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” which he maintained is already driving visible progress in governance, the economy, and national development.
He called on the victorious lawmakers to justify the mandate by delivering quality representation and legislative impact.
Although the APC celebrated its triumphs, opposition parties including the PDP, Labour Party (LP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) voiced dissatisfaction with the conduct of the polls, alleging irregularities in some areas.
INEC, however, insisted that the elections were free, fair, and largely hitch-free.
Analysts believe the outcome of the bye-elections has further strengthened APC’s grip on the political landscape, positioning President Tinubu and his administration for greater influence as the country looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
