APC’s Joe Ikpea Wins Edo Central Senatorial Bye-Election by Wide Margin

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Edo Central Senatorial bye-election, with its candidate, Joe Ikpea, recording a landslide victory over his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Joe Okojie.

According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ikpea polled a total of 105,129 votes, while Okojie secured 15,146 votes. The APC candidate dominated the contest across all five local government areas in the district.

In Esan Central, Ikpea garnered 20,781 votes against Okojie’s 2,065, while in Esan North-East, the APC secured 20,366 votes compared to the PDP’s 4,566. Similarly, in Esan South-East, Ikpea scored 14,873 votes while Okojie managed 4,036.

The pattern was repeated in Esan West where the APC won overwhelmingly with 39,490 votes against the PDP’s 2,270, and in Igueben, Ikpea recorded 9,619 votes to Okojie’s 2,209.

The cumulative figures left the APC candidate with a margin of 89,983 votes, underscoring his party’s dominance in Edo Central.

In his acceptance speech, Joe Ikpea expressed gratitude to the electorate for what he described as their trust and confidence in the APC’s vision for the district.

He assured constituents of effective representation and pledged to use the mandate to advance development and unity in the region.

While the APC celebrated its victory, Joe Okojie and the PDP have yet to issue an official reaction. With this victory, the APC has consolidated its political strength in Edo State.
